Partner Meghan Popp to Speak at 2026 CPBI Saskatchewan Conference

Lawson Lundell is pleased to announce that partner Meghan Popp will be a featured speaker at the CPBI Saskatchewan Regional Conference, taking place from May 5 to 7, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre in Regina.
 
On the final day of the conference, Thursday, May 7, Meghan will present an in-depth session titled “Pension & Benefits Law Update: Legislative Change, Emerging Risks, and Case Law Trends.”
 

Meghan’s session will provide an up-to-date review of key legal developments affecting pension and benefit plans. Key topics will include:

• The constitutional challenge to the PBA definition of “spouse”
• Administrator obligations regarding ESG considerations
• Legislative updates, including the Income Tax Act and the status of Bill 108
• Practical issues surrounding missing members and proof-of-life audits
• The impact of new sick note rules on benefit plans
• Recent case law regarding age-based distinctions in benefit plans
 
As a partner in the firm’s Pension and Employee Benefits Group, Meghan advises plan sponsors and administrators across Western Canada on governance, compliance, and complex pension and benefit matters. She supports clients on both day-to-day plan administration and major initiatives, liaising closely with regulators, stakeholders and other plan advisors.
