Biography

Cecilia is a commercial lawyer and a member of Lawson Lundell’s Corporate Commercial and Technology groups. Her practice is primarily focused on providing technology companies with practical, business-oriented legal advice with an eye to identifying solutions and minimizing risk. Informed by her first-hand experience as in-house counsel in leading companies, Cecilia advises a broad range of participants in the technology sector, including early-stage companies, growth-stage companies, entrepreneurs and investors.

Cecilia has substantial experience advising clients from various industries in technology related contracting, including drafting and negotiating complex subscription, licensing, cloud computing SaaS, IaaS and PaaS agreements for the procurement, supply or distribution of technology. Cecilia also assists start-ups and scale-ups on a broad range of matters, including negotiating strategic partnerships, developing their legal operations, drafting precedent master agreements, and advising on data security, outsourcing, privacy and compliance programs and policies.

Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Cecilia spent several years as lead commercial lawyer with a fast paced, growth-oriented company that scaled exponentially during her tenure, ultimately going public. She also served as Director, Legal at a SaaS company within a highly regulated industry.

Cecilia is an active member of her community, she has previously served as a director of the British Columbia Chapter of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL), and the Black Female Lawyers Network.
