Tim Syer Elected President of the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines

Lawson Lundell lawyer Tim Syer has been elected President of the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines for 2025-26 at at the organization’s AGM on November 26. Tim previously served as Vice-President, NWT for 2024–25. The Chamber advocates for the responsible growth of the mining industry in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Tim practices corporate and commercial law, advising local and national clients on corporate matters including share and asset purchase and sale transactions, banking, commercial real estate, construction, joint ventures and mineral tenure. Tim also advises both not-for-profit and for-profit clients on corporate governance matters and corporate reorganizations. In both the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, Tim regularly deals with complex land tenure and real property issues. He has experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial and operational agreements including service agreements, supply agreements, construction agreements, shareholders agreements and leases.

The NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines promotes the mining industry and the north to Northerners, Canadians and the world at large. The Chamber advises governments, regulatory agencies, investors, Aboriginal groups, the media, schools and universities, and the public on industry positions and initiatives. Its primary objective is to encourage, assist and stimulate the prosperous, orderly and environmentally responsible development and growth of mining and mineral exploration in the NWT and Nunavut.
