Keith Bergner and Valerie Mann Appointed King’s Counsel

Lawson Lundell is delighted to announce that Keith Bergner and Valerie Mann have been appointed King's Counsel. Recipients of this honour have distinguished themselves through their exemplary counsel, teaching contributions, publications, advocacy and volunteerism.

Keith advises private sector, public sector/government clients and Indigenous communities on Aboriginal law and regulatory matters. He has appeared as counsel before numerous regulatory tribunals and all levels of Superior and Appellate Courts (both Federal and Provincial), including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has acted for clients in a number of natural resource industries including hydro-electric generation and transmission, oil and gas, mining, aquaculture, forestry, transportation and independent power projects. His practice extends throughout Western Canada and the North (Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon).

Valerie is a corporate lawyer with extensive experience acting for corporations from start-up through public issuer in various industry sectors providing advice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital fund formation and transactions, and corporate finance transactions, as well as advising boards of directors on corporate governance. She is the Chair of the Technology practice group, and a former Managing Partner of the Firm. In addition to her practice, Val is dedicated to giving back to the community and has served on, and chaired, numerous non-profit boards.
