On September 16, Lawson Lundell lawyers Max Walker and Lisa Harder presented at the Canadian Tax Foundation's (CTF) British Columbia Tax Conference. The title of their presentation was 'The Intersection of Corporate Law and Tax Law.'
Their session considered how corporate statutes and tax rules interact in the context of reorganizations, distributions, dissolutions, and shareholder remedies, and discussed the practical issues that arise when these two areas overlap.
The two-day annual conference covered a variety of topics, including life insurance for tax and estate planning, inbound investment, resolving tax disputes, and many more.
The CTF is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit tax research organization under the joint sponsorship of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Bar Association.
