Partner Ryan Berger Speaks on Sovereign AI Panel at Big Data & Analytics West 2026

Lawson Lundell partner Ryan Berger was a panelist at the Big Data & Analytics West 2026 conference in Vancouver.

Ryan participated in a panel discussion titled, "Panel: Sovereign AI – How to Build Canada’s Sovereign and Innovative AI Future," which took place on day two of the conference on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026.

The panel focused on how Canada can strengthen its sovereign AI infrastructure, reduce dependence on global technology providers, and advance innovation while maintaining security and resilience, including:

• Optimizing trade-offs between sovereign infrastructure and global cloud platforms;

• Advancing investments in compute, trusted data, and AI capability across government;

• Aligning municipal, provincial, and agency AI strategies with national policy, security, and economic objectives; and

• Developing resilient ecosystems that can rapidly adjust to change.
