Biography

Julia Winters is a partner practicing business law with Lawson Lundell’s Asia Pacific Group. She regularly assists clients with acquiring, selling and financing real property in a variety of asset classes, including office buildings, shopping centres, wineries, residential apartment buildings and industrial land, and advises on corporate and partnership structuring matters for various real estate transactions. She also prepares and advises both landlords and tenants on commercial leases.

In addition to the real estate side of her practice, Julia frequently assists private companies with share and asset purchase transactions, corporate reorganizations and restructurings and other corporate proceedings, and advises on shareholders’ agreements, corporate governance and structuring and general corporate law matters.

In the course of her career, Julia has become familiar with acting for first and second generation Chinese clients. Julia works with a team of business lawyers in the Asia Pacific Group together with its paralegals and staff, many of whom speak Mandarin, to efficiently service Chinese clientele with their business law needs in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, particularly in the areas of real estate, trusts and family offices.

Julia is passionate about mentoring the next generation of lawyers on the fundamentals of the practice of corporate and commercial law, and routinely gives practical workshops to junior lawyers, articling students and law students both in-house at Lawson Lundell and at law schools.

Julia Winters is the current Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer where she is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the firm’s ongoing equity, diversity and inclusiveness improvement programs.
