Lawson Lundell is pleased to announce that the firm received two awards at the 2025 Benchmark Litigation Canada Awards. The award ceremony was held at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto on May 8, 2025, to honour the top litigation practices and litigators in Canada. Lawson Lundell was nominated for nine awards this year, including 'British Columbia Firm of the Year' and 'Alberta Firm of the Year'.
Lawson Lundell won in the following categories:
- Hall of Fame: Craig Ferris, KC, FCIArb.
- Impact Case Award: Poonian v. British Columbia (Securities Commission)
Craig Ferris was named to the Benchmark Litigation Hall of Fame in recognition of his distinguished career. He is one of only six litigators given this honour in 2025.
The Impact Case Award was received for a matter in which the firm successfully represented the British Columbia Securities Commission before the Supreme Court of Canada. The decision determined that wrongdoers can no longer use the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act to shield themselves from disgorgement orders, which will change the landscape for administrative tribunals who issue these orders. William Roberts and Laura Bevan were the lead lawyers in this matter. They were supported by Sarah Hannigan and Baylee Hunt.
