Lawson Lundell Appoints Karen MacMillan as Managing Partner

Lawson Lundell is delighted to announce that Karen MacMillan has been appointed as the new Managing Partner of the firm. Karen previously served as Deputy Managing Partner and Chair of the firm. In addition to her role as Managing Partner, Karen is also Co-Lead of the firm's Global Mining Group. Karen's experience and leadership will be invaluable in ensuring the firm's continued success.

Describing her plans for the firm, Karen said, "While I don't have any immediate plans for dramatic changes during my tenure, I do want to focus on reigniting and fostering a greater connection between our people in all offices. It is important for us to reconnect as individuals following a relatively extended period of growth, because knowing and trusting one another is part of what has always made us stand out as a firm and allowed us to practice at a level of excellence that not all firms can. In addition, I will, of course, prioritise maintaining our longstanding practice of providing exceptional service to every one of our clients."

Karen has been with the firm since she first arrived as a summer student in 1997, becoming a partner in 2006. “When I first joined Lawson Lundell we were a much smaller firm, with an office in Vancouver and one person located in Yellowknife. Though it was a much less diverse partnership back then, its core values and much of its culture were well established and continue through to today," Karen said. "It was already a successful business law firm, where there was room for different opinions and world views, and an openness and respect for different kinds of people. This remains true today and is a general mindset that makes it a great workplace and contributes to our reputation as creative problem solvers."

Congratulations to Karen on becoming Lawson Lundell's new Managing Partner!
