Biography

Scott is a commercial litigation and arbitration lawyer with a focus on complex international and domestic disputes. He has advised clients across a variety of industries, including energy, mining, manufacturing, private equity, finance, gaming, pension and technology sectors. Scott also has experience working on matters involving anti-money laundering, cross-border litigation, shareholder, insurance and regulatory disputes, cryptocurrency, and the enforcement of foreign awards in Canada.

Scott has appeared in the courts of British Columbia and Ontario. He also has represented clients in international and domestic arbitrations seated in Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and the United Kingdom, as well as arbitration related court matters.

Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Scott worked as an international arbitration associate in the Hong Kong office of a global “magic circle” law firm and as a commercial litigation associate at a leading national law firm in Toronto.

  • A leading Japanese steel manufacturer in a joint venture dispute relating to a production facility in Thailand.
  • A global automotive company in arbitration proceedings arising out of distribution agreements with an Indian party.
  • An industrial company with respect to a traumatic brain injury claim involving two BC Supreme Court actions and a proceeding before the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal.
  • A high net worth individual in multi-million dollar claim against a leading cryptocurrency arising out of a “flash crash” in the ethereum (ETH) coin price.
