Lawson Lundell litigators Lauren Cook, Laura Bevan and Marika Strobl have all earned a listing in the 2019 edition of Benchmark Litigation's "40 & Under Hot List."

This is the first year that Laura Bevan and Marika Strobl have been recognized and Lauren Cook's second consecutive year. They are recognized among North America's most accomplished litigators at the age of 40 or younger.

Lauren Cook

Lauren is a partner at Lawson Lundell LLP whose practice includes regulatory law, administrative law and commercial litigation, with a particular focus on regulatory compliance and environmental law issues. She has appeared as counsel in all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as before the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

In her regulatory practice, Lauren has experience advising clients in the oil and gas, forestry, mining, real estate development, aquaculture, power generation and clean energy industries on regulatory and environmental compliance, environmental auditing and due diligence. She also advises clients on matters related to the remediation of contaminated sites, including cost recovery actions for contaminated sites. Lauren has successfully defended clients in regulatory prosecutions and has advised clients under investigation for regulatory and environmental offences.

Laura Bevan

Laura is a partner at Lawson Lundell LLP. Her practice includes all areas of civil and commercial litigation. She has appeared as both trial and appellate counsel, including before all levels of court in British Columbia, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before various arbitration and administrative tribunals.

Laura provides practical and strategic advice to help clients find solutions to a broad range of business disputes. Laura advises clients in the gaming industry, the banking and securities industries and in the area of pensions and benefits. She has particular experience acting in litigation involving occupiers' liability claims, insurance matters, franchise disputes, complex securities actions, civil fraud claims, shareholder's disputes and oppression remedies and professional negligence claims. Laura is also litigation counsel to pension and benefit trusts. 

Marika Strobl

Marika is a partner in Lawson Lundell’s Calgary office whose practice focuses on complex corporate/commercial litigation and arbitration, with a particular emphasis on disputes relating to energy and natural resources. Her practice involves advising on complex breach of contract claims in all contexts, including joint venture agreements, asset purchase agreements, long term supply agreements, operating agreements, and others.

Marika has experience in all manners of tort and negligence claims, has acted in shareholder matters, including defending oppression actions and derivative claims, and provides advice concerning director and officer liability.
