Lawson Lundell partner, and leader of the China Initiative, Jack Yong, was quoted in a Business in Vancouver article about the recent uptick in force majeure claims and negotiations as a result of the pandemic, and how businesses are currently handling their contractual obligations. 

Commenting on the issue, Jack said that "right now what we're seeing is a lot of negotiations, transactions coming apart, parties trying to rely on the concept of force majeure to either walk away from contractual obligations, or to renegotiate them."
