Codie has experience distilling complex legal issues into concise and persuasive legal memos, opinions, and arguments on topics such as statutory interpretation, contractual interpretation, Charter issues, quasi-criminal matters, bankruptcy, fraud, and tort. She also performs early case assessments, evaluating the strengths of claims or defenses, clarifying procedural complexities, and considering applicable limitation periods. Her practice spans industries including real estate, mining, and oil and gas.
Before joining Lawson Lundell, Codie served as legal counsel to the Alberta Court of Appeal, where she gained comprehensive experience in appellate advocacy and judicial review. She also spent approximately six years as a litigator.
Codie has completed her graduate diploma in legislative drafting and is a member of the ULCC Working Group on Cash Payments. She has taught advanced legal research and writing at the University of Calgary.
