Karen MacMillan & Khaled Abdel-Barr Named in the 'Top 10 Influential Cross-Border Mining Lawyers in Canada 2023' by Business Today

Lawson Lundell lawyers Karen MacMillan and Khaled Abdel-Barr have been named in Business Today's list of the 'Top 10 Influential Cross-Border Mining Lawyers in Canada 2023.' They were chosen by Business Today for inclusion in this list because they "repeatedly proved their prowess through unceasingly high-quality service and client satisfaction" in the mining sector. 

Karen MacMillan was recognised because she "excels in handling commercial agreements and corporate transactions within the mining industry." Karen advises her mining clients on commercial arrangements including asset level acquisitions and dispositions, negotiation of earn-in, option and joint venture agreements, royalty agreements, procurement, construction and engineering agreements, and other strategic ownership arrangements. Karen is Lawson Lundell's Deputy Managing Partner and Chair of its Executive Committee.

Khaled Abdel-Barr was recognised because of his "renowned" and "comprehensive mining practice." Khal provides legal support for mineral exploration activities and mine development and operations. He advises on acquisitions and dispositions of mines and mining projects both domestically and around the world, mine financing, and on a broad range of mining matters, including the negotiation of earn-in, joint venture, strategic alliance, royalty and streaming agreements, and mineral title review.
