Sarah practices in the area of bankruptcy, insolvency, and banking litigation. She advises and represents creditors and debtors, monitors, receivers, DIP Lenders and trustees in receiverships, Companies Creditors’ Arrangements Act and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act matters. Sarah’s experience includes the negotiation of forbearance agreements, enforcement of security, enforcement of operators' liens related to oil, gas and minerals, foreclosures, proposals to creditors, creditor realizations, receiverships, and the restructuring of financially distressed companies.

With over six years of experience assisting clients in a variety of insolvency matters and related proceedings, Sarah routinely appears before the British Columbia Supreme Court, Provincial Court, and Court of Appeal acting for clients, including major banks and other financial institutions, in debt recovery, security realization, debtor protection, and foreclosure matters.

Sarah has experience in:

    • Acting for Bank of Montreal and HSBC Bank Canada in prosecuting various debt recovery claims 
    • Acting for Bank of Montreal, HSBC Bank Canada, and Vancouver City Savings Credit Union in relation to various commercial and residential foreclosure matters
    • Acting for an institutional lender in advancing a number of breach of contract and negligence claims
    • Acting for an operator in the enforcement of an operator's lien pursuant to a Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen Agreement
    • Acting for an institutional lender in a number of matters relating to cheque negotiation, including matters relating to cheque-kiting and forged bank drafts 
    • Acting for various clients in the negotiation and preparation of Proposals to creditors pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
