Practices

Christopher advises individuals, outside counsel, businesses, crown corporations, and governments on litigious matters.

Christopher has appeared before all levels of British Columbia Courts, as well as before administrative tribunals including the British Columbia Utilities Commission and the National Energy Board.

Christopher joined Lawson Lundell as a summer student in 2008. After completing his studies, including a semester interning at a leading Victoria criminal defense firm, Christopher rejoined Lawson Lundell in 2009 to article. Upon his call to the bar, Christopher joined the firm’s regulatory, environmental, and aboriginal practice as an Associate.

Christopher’s practice focuses on providing advice to Lawson Lundell’s clientele in the energy and resources sector. As well, he is retained from time to time by outside counsel to assist with litigious matters involving agents of the government, including issues involving allegations of intentional misconduct. Whatever the circumstances, Christopher strives to provide practical and business-oriented advice.

Recognition and Ranking

  • During law school, Christopher competed in moot court competitions. He was a member of the University of Victoria’s winning delegations at both the Law Games Moot (Montreal, 2008) and the British Columbia Law Schools Competitive Moot (Vancouver, 2008)

Personal Interests

Christopher’s interests include travel, history, and road cycling.

Christopher’s experience includes:

  • Assisting with the preparation of final argument on behalf of a Territorial Government in connection with an application before the National Energy Board to construct the Mackenzie Gas Project;
  • Acting on behalf of a Territorial Government in connection with an inquiry into offshore drilling requirements in the Arctic;
  • Acting on behalf of a Crown-owned public utility with respect to revenue requirements and rate design matters;
  • Advising on issues involving authorizations for the export of electricity, natural gas, and LNG;
  • Acting on behalf of an intervener Crown corporation with respect to litigation involving access to public utility infrastructure;
  • Advising with respect to the initiation and conduct of civil litigation against a federal government investigatory agency.
