From our Yellowknife office, members of our Family Law Group provide advice to clients in a wide variety of family law matters including the following areas:
pre-nuptial agreements;
divorce and separation proceedings;
custody and access disputes; and
division of matrimonial assets, and adoption proceedings.
We also advise clients as to the implications of marital or common-law relationships on matters relating to businesses and estates.
The northern Family Law Group has, over the years, been instrumental in effecting and monitoring changes to family law legislation at both the territorial and federal level as well as in advocating the acceptance and use of alternative dispute resolution techniques such as mediation and collaborative family law. In recent years, the Family Law Group has successfully acted on behalf of same sex clients in advocating for legislative change in the area of spousal benefits and same sex adoptions.
In addition, our Family Law Group is supported by and has access to all the resources and experience of the members of our Litigation, Real Estate, Tax and Wealth Preservation Law groups.
