Sara joined Lawson Lundell LLP in 2000 after completing a clerkship with the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Having completed her articles with the firm, Sara now works as a litigation associate.

Her practice is primarily litigation focused with an emphasis on corporate and commercial litigation and property tax assessments.

Experience

Sara’s experience includes:

  • Appearing for a national railway in an action involving a serious derailment resulting in the death of two engineers. The trial lasted for approximately three months and involved voluminous document production (Canadian National Railway Company v. HMTQ in Right of Canada, 2003 BCSC 1558)
  • Appearing for Canada Forest Products Ltd. with respect to an action for losses arising from the passage of The Forest Amendment Act, 1995. Sara had primary responsibility for document production, which was voluminous and required tracing historical documents back to the 1940s when the original timber licences were granted (Canadian Forest Products Ltd. v. HMTQ in Right of The Province of British Columbia, SCBC Vancouver Registry No. 5001803)
  • Appearing for Norske Canada Inc. on the leading Canadian decision with respect to contested arrangement. This case was multi-jurisdictional and involved a multitude of parties (Re Pacifica Papers Inc., 2001 BCSC 1067; 2001 BCCA 486)
