Karen’s practice includes advising firms of varying sizes, from small privately held “start-ups” to large public corporations, on general business law matters with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, financings, corporate reorganizations and restructurings as well as licensing, strategic alliances and joint ventures. Karen also has experience in advising on and negotiating a variety of commercial arrangements including outsourcing arrangements, supply, development and manufacturing agreements and construction matters.
In 2006, Karen acted as the firm’s Director of Professional Development, where she was responsible for overseeing the recruitment and development of our associates and students.

Significant transactions include:
- Acting for a private equity firm in connection with the acquisition of a moulded fibre packaging business
- Acting for a large BC-based forest products company in connection with the acquisition of another large forest products company and implementing the extensive post-acquisition reorganization related thereto
- Acting for an Australian-based mining corporation in implementing a plan of arrangement including a TSX listing and initial public offering
- Acting for a private equity firm in connection with the sale of a large manufacturing company with operations in both Canada and the US
- Acting for a US-based resort company in connection with the acquisition of a British Columbia ski resort
