Heather is a member of the firm’s legal research team. In her legal research practice, Heather researches and analyses the law and works with other members of the firm preparing opinions, pleadings and briefs on a broad range of subject areas including bankruptcy and insolvency law, corporate and commercial law, freedom of information and privacy law and public utilities law.

Prior to becoming a full time research lawyer, Heather practiced as a litigator focusing mainly on issues involving energy and regulated utilities and power marketers.

Before becoming a lawyer, Heather worked in various management, supervisory, and human resource positions in British Columbia’s healthcare industry.

Experience

  • Represented a non-profit club in an arbitration regarding the determination of rent pursuant to a lease
  • Represented a large electric utility in the review of a long term energy supply contract and call for tenders report before the British Columbia Utilities Commission
  • Negotiated various third party vendor agreements
  • Assisted a British Columbia power marketer regarding Canada/U.S. electricity trade matters
  • Assisted a large electric utility in developing and obtaining regulatory approval for Standards of Conduct governing communications with its transmission provider
  • Part of the Lawson Lundell team who represented Teck Cominco at the Supreme Court of Canada
