Christopher assists senior counsel in their representation of individuals, private companies, crown corporations, and governments on all variety of public law issues.

Christopher joined Lawson Lundell as a summer student in 2008. After completing his studies, including a semester interning at a leading Victoria criminal law firm, Christopher rejoined the firm in 2009 to article. Upon his call to the bar, Christopher joined the newly-amalgamated Regulatory, Environmental, and Aboriginal group as an Associate.

Recognition and Ranking

  • During law school, Christopher competed in moot court competitions. He was a member of the University of Victoria’s victorious delegations at both the Law Games Moot (Montreal, 2008) and the British Columbia Law Schools Competitive Moot “Uvic-UBC” (Vancouver, 2008)

Personal Interests

Christopher’s favourite recreations include travelling Europe, reading history, collecting stories, running the sea-wall, and indulging in the occasional game of poker with friends.

Experience

Christopher’s experience includes:

  • Appearing with senior counsel in the B.C. Provincial Court, B.C. Supreme Court, and B.C. Court of Appeal
  • Assisting senior counsel with the preparation of final argument on behalf of a Territorial Government in connection with an application to construct the Mackenzie Gas Project
  • Assisting outside counsel with his client’s litigation against the Canada Revenue Agency for the wrongful search of the client’s home. The client is presently responding to the CRA’s appeal from the order of the B.C. Supreme Court sitting with jury. The jury awarded $1.3 million against the CRA for the breach of the client’s private law and Charter rights
  • Assisting senior counsel acting in environmental remediation insurance litigation, including issues arising from parallel cross-border litigation
  • Assisting senior counsel advising on unusual public law issues including Crown liability legislation, government appropriations, Federal Court jurisdiction, Crown agency immunity from taxation, legal history, mineral taxation, and informer privilege
